These satellite dishes are located just north of Death Valley California outside of a small town called Bishop. While looking for something to do one weekend I drove there to check them out after seeing them in a picture book. They are extremely massive and probably cost a lifetime salary.
The Owens Valley Radio Observatory is the largest university-operated radio observatory in the world.
